Bender.- Neil H., son of Henry J. and Polly (Jones) Bender, was born at Wellman, Iowa, Dec. 22, 1913; died of a heart attack at Wellman, Iowa, July 31, 1984; aged 70 y. On Aug. 22, 1940, he was married to Velma Zook, who survives. Also surviving are 4 sons (Doug, Carl, Loran, and Melvin), one daughter (Patricia), 4 grandchildren, and 4 brothers (Joe, Orva, Alva, and Gideon). He was preceded in death by 3 brothers (Louis, Harvey, and Edwin), and 3 sisters (Ella, Lucy, and Lizzie). He was a member of East Union Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at Powell Funeral Home on Aug. 3, in charge of Ron Kennel; interment in Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Gospel Herald August 21, 1984
