The burial information is from a book, "Record of the One Hundred and Sixteenth Regiment, Ohio Infantry Volunteers in the War of the Rebellion," Printed 1884. James was 26 years old at time of enlistment, which was Feb. 29, 1864. Died at Staunton, Va., July 12, 1864 of wounds received at Piedmont, Va., June 5, 1864. (His brother, William Henry Mobberly wrote a diary during the Civil War. In his June 5, 1864 entry in his diary William wrote "James B. was wounded severely."

Married Catharine Seals (Mobberly). They had one child, Hulda Mobberly who wouldn't have known her father since he died when she was about 18 months old.
