Mr. Alonzo P. Mead was the second born of Jabesh and Caroline [Curtis] Mead. He was born, 16 Jul 1838 in Oakland County, Michigan. He had several brothers and sisters. His father was born in Manchester, Vermont in 1808, to Lewis and Abigail Mead.


At the age of nineteen, on 20 July 1861, Alonzo was maried to his life's partner, Miss Amelia Johnson. She was twenty years old at the time and was born in Canada. Amelia had come to the United States in 1860. See, their 1910 U.S. Federal Census.


They were blessed with three children, Jennie B. Mead, born 1864, in Michigan; Laura May Mead, born 07 Feb 1870; William A. Mead, born 18 Jun 1870; Vesta A. Mead, born Jan 1872.


In 1891, after a number of years in Buffalo, Erie, New York. They moved to Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. Where he continued on in the lumber business.
