BURNS, Richard I. "Dick" age 90 of West Carrollton, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Walnut Creek Nursing Center. Dick was born on October 21, 1921 in Columbus, the son of the late Elmer E. & Lovena (Adair) Burns. He graduated from Fairmont High School Class of 1939, proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was retired from NCR where he had worked as a job foreman of tool inspection and process engineer for 38 years. He completed his career as a tool inspector at Digitron Tool Company, he was a 69 year Mason and a member of West Carrollton Lodge #737 as well as a longtime member of the Southern Hills United Methodist Church. Dick was an avid golfer and also enjoyed hunting and bowling. He loved having breakfast at the Golden Nugget with his NCR friends. But his most cherished moments were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life.

Preceded in death by his wife June L. Burns in 2005, and 2 sisters Mildred & Marilyn. Survivors include 2 sons David Burns and wife Carolyn of West Carrollton, James Burns and wife Gretchen of Kettering, 6 grandchildren Chris Johnson and wife Tracy, Richard Burns and wife Jennifer, Christopher Burns and wife Nikki, Michael Burns and wife Karen, Nicholas Burns and Megan Burns, 10 great grandchildren Aidan, Kiera & Sarah Johnson, Cameron, Sebastian & Lincoln Burns, Owen & Isaac Burns, Riley Burns, and Dominic Burns.

Funeral services at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton. Burial David's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home with a Masonic Service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the caregivers and administrators at Walnut Creek Nursing Center who so lovingly cared for Dick during the last two years. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West Carrollton Band Boosters or Southern Hills United Methodist Church in his memory.
