He was born July 9, 1917 in Paulding County, was a retired Paulding County employee, a Mason and a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Audie Hughes Thompson and daughter, Norma Ellison.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Williams Thompson, Rockmart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Sandra Thompson, Rockmart, Jimmy and Denise Thompson, Dallas; sister, Mrs. Irene Cook, Rockmart; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 from the Freeman Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Interment followed in Smyrna Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harold Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Wendell Williams, Cecil Williams, Stevie Wingo and Arnold Cook.
