Ruth Anderson passed from this life April 8, 2012 at the age of 81. She was born December 3, 1930 in DeLeon, Texas to Mary Verene Palmour and Andrew Alexander "Cap" Goates.

As a child she played the song "Just as I am" on the piano for the Grace Methodist Church in Abilene, Texas. Ruth graduated from Hendrich Memorial Nursing School in Abilene, Texas with the class of 1949. She also received her B.S. Degree in Psychology from St. Edwards.

She was a Long Term Care Chief Nurse for 24 years with the Texas Heath Department. She also volunteered for the Red Cross with many hours of service. Ruth was very proud of her membership with the Choctaw Nation and loved to attend the Trail of Tears and Labor Day Festivals at the Choctaw Nation in Oklahoma.

Ruth was a dear friend to many and loved her family dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Anderson and sister, Buelamae Goates.

Ruth is survived by her children, Raymond Anderson and his wife Susan, Mary and her husband Larry Pierce, 5 grandchildren, sister, Ethel Owen and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas. A Graveside Service will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings, Texas.
