Helena L. Bortz, 94, of Hellertown, died October 1, 2006 in Mary Ellen Nursing Home. Born in Lower Saucon Township, she was a daughter of the late William and Laura (Cressman) Reiss. She was the widow of Ronald K. Smith, who died in 1958, and George Bortz, who died in 1989. She was a homemaker for several Hellertown families when she was younger. She was a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leithsville.
Survivors: Daughter, Claudia, wife of Donald Koch, of Hellertown; brother, William Reiss of Hellertown; sister, Edith Mindler of Allentown; grandchildren, Gail Larkin, Allen and Chad Koch; great- grandchildren, Sean, Colin, and Tiffany.
Services: Wednesday, October 4, 2 p.m., Hellertown Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be private. The Falk Funeral Home & Crematory, Hellertown, is in charge of arrangements.
