Edward Eugene "Gene" Bain, 86 of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012.

A private family service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Sunray. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 9, 2012, at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Gene was born on November 23, 1925 in Washburn, Texas, to George and Clarice Bain. His family moved to Moore County in 1935, where they farmed and ranched.

Gene graduated from Dumas High School and attended West Texas State College until joining the navy in 1942. He honorably served his country in the Pacific during WWII.

Gene was united in marriage to Helen Bohlander on March 25, 1946. She preceded him in death. After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to Moore County where he farmed and ranched for fifty years. He was a member of Sunray United Methodist Church until moving to Arizona after his retirement.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, and three brothers, Otho Bain, Bill Bain and Jack Bain.

Gene is survived by two sons, Tom Bain and wife Beverly of Tucson, and Robert Bain and wife Patsy of Amarillo; two daughters, Carolyn Stubbs, and Donna Corse and husband Joe, both of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-granddaughters; and one brother, Joe Bain and wife Norma of Dumas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to BSA Hospice, P. O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or to Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Rd, Amarillo, TX 79124.
