Funeral services for Andrew Clark Eakin, aged 65 of Newport, were held December 10, at the Bateman Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in the Eureka Cemetery. Rev. Harry Earles of the Calvary Baptist Church conducted the rites.
Mr. Eakin was born in Kent September 15, 1904 and passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis on December 7 after a ten day illness. He was the widower of Eva May Eakin who passed away in 1962.
He had been a resident of Newport for the past two years; and before his retirement, had been a night-watchman for the Burns Detective Agency in Portland.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Darleen Belwood of Cottage Grove; a brother, Melvin Eakin of Peedee; and seven grandchildren.
