Esther L. Abbey, 80, of Sterling House in West Des Moines, died there Sunday from complications of pneumonia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Abbey was born in Perry and had lived in the Des Moines area for 58 years. She was the retired co-founder and co-partner of Abbey-Biederman Insurance Agency.
She is survived by two sons, Duane of Ames and Nathan of Des Moines; a daughter, Lisa Bell of Des Moines; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dunn's Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
