Charles Edward Houser served in both the Mexican and Civil Wars. In 1866 he purchased a farm on Bear Creek for $9,000 and in 1882, he sold it to his wife's first cousin, Col. Duncan Brown Cooper. He then bought a 125 acre farm at Houser Bend some seven miles northwest of Columbia, Tenn. Known children are: Alonzo L. Houser married Alice ____.; Robert W. Houser m: Mollie E. Fly; Eudora (Dora) Catherine Houser unmarried; J. Charles Houser; Mildren Dabra Houser m: Thomas H. Harris, and Dr. Theodore Houser unmarried.
