When Hugh and Lula divorced, she got the farm. She had no help so son Newt came to help her. She couldn't pay the taxes and Newt ended up with the farm. Lula didn't live long after the divorce.
There are several Hurd Cemeteries in District 3, Hancock County, Tennessee. The Hancock & It's People Vol. II says she is buried in the same Hurd Cemetery with son Pharse, daughter Adah, a grand daughter Bobby Jean (daughter of son Gale); and an unnamed infant great grand daughter (born to Gale's son Kyle).
