Edward Robert Moorehead, age 77, of Newton, died April 1, 2012 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
Born April 25, 1934, in Blair Co., PA, he was the son of the late Lloyd Edward Moorehead and Alice Pearl McClellan Moorehead. Edward was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover where he served as an usher. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force and had retired from Bell Telephone Company as a switch operator.
In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his twin brother Edwin Lloyd Moorehead and brother Fletcher Moorehead.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet Louise Dugan Moorehead of the home; daughters, Alice Barber and husband Rickey, of Marion, Nancy McGinnis and husband, Doug, of Statesville; son, James "Jimmy" Moorehead and wife, Denise of Warner Robins, GA.; a sister, Hazel "Lou" Moorehead of Winter Park, FL.; and grandchildren, Amber Barber, Justin McGinnis, Courtney Moorehead, and Robert Moorehead.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Rev. Dr. Ed Yount, Rev. Chris Alley, and Rev. Mike Daughtry officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4, 2012, prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
