Tena Schulz was born June 2, 1877, in Scott County, the daughter of Peter and Maria (Nielsen) Schulz. She received her education in the Scott County schools. She lived with her parents, until making her home in Durant. She never married.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Julius Schulz.
