James (Jim) S. Cornwell, 89, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, April 1, 2012, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. He was born in Newark Valley, NY, May 8, 1922, the son of the late, Willet and Mary (Albro) Cornwell. He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Cheryl Cornwell-Huston; brothers, Clarke and George; and sisters, Jennie Mae Bell, and Connie Swift. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary (Kowal); son, Larry; brother, Bob; and son-in-law, Peter Huston; grandchildren and their spouses, Damien Cornwell, Miles Huston, Kyle and Aleen Huston, Rhonda (Plunkett) and Mike Carbone; Jon and Cindi; great-granddaughters Olivia and Natalie Cornwell and several nieces and nephews. Jim was a proud member of the Teamster's Union and a professional driver for over 40 years ending with Red Star Express. He loved to work in his yard around their immaculately kept house. He enjoyed the fresh air doing gardening, lawn mowing and tree trimming. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Jim loved to tell jokes. Viewing will be at Fischer-Scholder Funeral Home, 269 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901, Friday April 6, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00PM with a private service to follow. Interment will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date
