When he was eleven years of age his parents moved to Saline county, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood and completed his education.
He was united in marriage to Miss Lura Nickle at Western, Nebraska, on January 4, 1893. To this union seven children, three sons and four daughters, were born, all of whom survived.
Mr. and Mrs. Maret continued to reside in Saline county until in 1895 When they moved on to a farm near Bladen, where they made their home until 1902, when Mr. Maret purchased a farm northeast of Huntley, and moved with his family there. where he continud to make his home until the time of his death.
Mr. Maret by vocation was a farmer, and engaged somewhat extensively in farming and stockraising. but he became more widely known for the fine services he rendered his community. His work on the district school board and other public services rendered, convinced his friends of his superior ability to manage public affairs, accordingly a number of his friends urged him to seek the office of supervisor for district number 3 in the fall of 1918. The result was the he was elected and took office in January 1919, and continued to represent his district for 16 years, until compelled by failing health to retire in 1935.
That Mr. Maret discharged his duties efficiently and faithfully are indicated not only by his long tenure in office, and the fact that he was further honored with the chairmanship of the board, but most of all by the high esteem his constituents continue to hold him. And wherever you go political friend and foe alike have a good word to say about "Jeff" as he was familiarly known.
