Howard W. Batdorf, 92, a resident of Independence Terrace, Womelsdorf, died Thursday afternoon at 2 in the emergency room of the Reading Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for today in Reading Hospital. His wife, Elsie M. (Luckenbill) Batdorf, died in 1967. Born in Hamlin, Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Davilla and Minnie A. (Hoffa) Batdorf. Batdorf had been employed as a custodian by the former Womelsdorf school district for 35 years before retiring in 1962. He had been a dealer in raw furs in Womelsdorf for many years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf. Surviving are two sons, Harold L., Womelsdorf, and Luke L., Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Also seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Hetrick Funeral Home, Womelsdorf, is in charge of arrangements. [Reading Eagle, November 3, 1989, Page 26]
