Was a Native of Shelby County, Kentucky.
Mrs. Melissa Wood Anderson, wife of Mr. R. M. Anderson, died at her home on East Sixth street Saturday night of rheumatism of the heart. The end came rather suddenly about half-past 7 o'clock. She had been sitting up some during the day but was lying down when she passed away.
She had been an invalid for a year or more and was a great sufferer, but bore it with Christian fortitude.
The. deceased was born near Shelbyviile, Ky. , December 30th, 1842, and was married to Mr. R. M. Anderson February 27th, 1866. Three daughters were born to them, who, with her husband, survive her. Her children are, Mrs. W. S. Elgin, now of Nortonville, Mrs. E. M. Moss and Mrs. F. F. Henderson, of this city. She also leaves five brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Anderson a model Christian and was a member of the Baptist church, with which she united in early girlhood. She was everything that a wife and mother should be and was always faithful in the discharge of every duty as a church member, loved by her neighbors and gave much to those who needed her help.
Mr. Samuel Wood, a brother, of Louisville, and Mr. Thomas Money, who married a half-sister of Mrs. Anderson, arrived here Sunday night to attend her burial. Services were held at the residence yesterday at 2 p.m. by Dr. M A. Jenkins and the remains were laid to rest in Hopewell Cemetery.
