Mr. Akers was born in Carroll county, Ind., Dec. 25, 1860, a son of Jacob and Zelda Akers, and married Zoe Coate in 1878. He was an active member of the Kilmore Methodist church for 60 years.
Surviving, besides the widow, are a son, Russell, of Kilmore; four sisters, Mrs. N. W. Rodenbarger, Rossville; Mrs. Will Mortsolf, Clinton county; Mrs. J. E. Fickle, Warren, and Mrs. Troy Gangwer, of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Charles, of Rhinelander, Wis., and Edmund, of Steubenville, Ohio.
Mr. Akers' parents lived near Mulberry a number of years, on the old Saeger farm, now occupied by Will Eaton. Both Jacob Akers and his wife are buried in Fair Haven cemetery.
