Mary Gleason married Michael McCarthy in Ireland and had four known sons and a daughter that came to the USA as young adults in the mid 1800's. They did not all come at once. Mary arrived after some of her children. It is presumed that Michael died in Ireland.

Mary's memorial is included with the family of her son Patrick. Her name and dates "Mary 1808-1881" are marked on the large family stone for "McCarthy" which lists the names of Patrick's family members at the base. This family stone also lists two of Patrick's brothers: "Michael", and "Timothy".
The baptismal records for the children of Mary Gleeson & Michael McCarthy were found in the Borrisokane Parrish, Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe, County Tipperary. They indicated that the family resided in an area named Kyleagoonagh which is about 22 miles north of Nenagh.
