Alvero was the son of John Wardell (circa 1853- circa 1930; burial place unknown) and Aurelia Minerva Rose Wardell (1853-1924.)

He married (first) Emma Myrtle Preece (1893-1912) in Cassia County, Idaho, on January 18, 1911. The couple had one child, William Lawrence Wardell (1911-1928.)

He married Effie Allen (1891-1964) in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 14, 1915. Their children were (or included:)
