It is with great sadness that our grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Leona "Grammy" Amelia Laudenslager, age 94, died peacefully at her home on Scott Street, Williamsport, on Thursday, April 5, 2012, with family at her bedside following a brief illness.

Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Cecelia (Fredericks) Bradley.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walther G. Laudenslager, for whom she was married for 51 years. Her two sons, Walter M. and Sylvan E. Laudenslager and her daughter, Delores L. Gearhart, also precede her in death. Surviving is her beloved family: granddaughters, Delinda Pollom, of Williamsport, and Debra Herzka (Jeffrey) of Delaware; six great-grandchildren, Corey (Christy) Pollom, and Katie Pollom of Williamsport, Jesse Hoover of New Mexico, and Aaron Herzka, Stephanie Herzka and David Herzka of Delaware; also, two great-great-grandchildren, Haley and Brayden Herzka of Delaware.

Leona loved a good game of sports. As a child, she loved playing marbles and baseball, when the boys would let her join in. She carried her love for the game of baseball throughout her years and was an avid Mets fan. She watched any ball game on TV and knew the players, as well as the statistics. Even in her 90s, she would walk over to Bowman Field to watch a game of baseball, and was excited that spring baseball practice had arrived. She loved her family, as clearly displayed by the many photos of them throughout her home, and cherished visits from her grandchildren. She was an independent lady and boasted of her ability to live on her own in her tidy house where everything had its place. She enjoyed decorating her home, especially for the holidays. She always had been an active homemaker and garden enthusiast. In the later years, she painted river rocks yellow to line her flower garden bed. Her smile and enthusiastic greeting was always a must when friends stopped by to see her. She stayed current by reading the Daily Times Newspaper and the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, and never missed an evening of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice c/o Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements entrusted to the Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
