The family moved from Boreczek to Scotlandby 1889 and on 11 Apr 1901 they left Scotland for America, arriving at the Port of New York on 24 Apr 1901. This researcher is unsure what happened to Josef after 1903 but he is dead by the 1910 census.

At some point during the span of 1930-1940 some of Ewa's children began to change their surname from Opiela to Scott in the case of Jan/John and to O'Pella in the case of Bronislaw/Bryan.
Ewa died in 1947.
