Mary Cutler was born in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts on May 5, 1663. She was the daughter of John Cutler & his second wife, Mary Brown. On March 2, 1682 in Charlestown, Middlesex, she married Matthew Smith. Mary and Matthew had four children, all born in Reading, Middlesex. In 1690, Matthew died, and on December 7, 1693, Mary became the second wife of Joseph Dutton in Charlestown, Dutton had also just lost his spouse. He was the son of Thomas Dutton & Susannah Palmer. Joseph and Mary moved to Lyme, New London, then to East Haddam, Middlesex, both in Connecticut. Joseph and Mary had seven children of their own. Joseph died in January, 1734, Mary on March 26, 1744, both are buried in the Second Cemetery in East Haddam.

An interesting and confusing bit of genealogical information. After the younger Matthew Smith married the younger Mary Cutler in 1682, Matthew's widowed father, also named Matthew, married Mary's widowed mother, also named Mary, in Reading in 1684. So, within two years, there were two marriages between Matthew Smith and Mary Cutler.
Appended information from another graver:
7 Children with Joseph Dutton
Mary's parents John and Mary Brown Cutler
Mary Dutton, 7th great grandparent
