Willie Ernest Gloyna Jr., 54, of Caldwell passed away at his home in Burleson County on Thursday, November 22, 2007. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 25 at New Tabor Brethren Church with burial following in New Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 24 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Gloyna was born August 17, 1953, in Houston to Willie E. Sr. and Olga Frances Faust Gloyna. He was baptized on September 6, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Houston. He and his wife, Sherry, were married on August 17, 1977, by the Rev. Henry Beseda in Caldwell.
Mr. Gloyna was a partner in the Big Creek Construction Company. He was the last of his kin – honest, trustworthy, stubborn and true. He was loved and adored by his family and respected by all who knew him. Mr. Gloyna was a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather. He believed that great accomplishments come from hard work and determination.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer Gloyna; and sister-in-law, Judy Gloyna.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry, of Caldwell; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Diana Hamby of Durango, Colo.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tanya and Gary Parker of Cleveland, Texas, Kimberly and Donald Schulze of Colmesneil, Texas, and Tiffany and Robert Hargraves of Snook, Texas; brother, Dennis Gloyna of College Station; sister, Shirley Haggard of Caldwell; aunt, Lydia Bolton; grandchildren, Justin Hamby, C. J. Hamby, Jessica Hamby, Ashley Schulze and Rebecca Schulze; two nieces; and one nephew.
The family has suggested that memorials be made to the New Tabor Brethren Church or St. Jude's Cancer Center.
