Melvina Clara(Daniels)(Pearson)Alexander)Nelson, age 87 of Roosevelt,Utah passed away peacefully on December 5,2012 in Roosevelt,Utah.
Melvina was born the 2nd child of 4 on 23 May 1925 in Bacchus Utah to Clara Henrietta McAffee and James Franklin Daniels. Her older brother, Lamar James Daniels, passed away in 1924, prior to her birth. Melvina had two sisters,Bebe Delaine Daniels and Donna Mae Daniels. Her mother and father later divorced in 1931. Her mother then married her step-father, Oren Heber Pearson. Oren, had a son, Lyle Pearson from a previous marriage and Lyle was 2 years old at the time of their parent's marriage. Her brother, Roy and sisters,Jean, Enid and Della Pearson were born to this 2nd marriage.
Melvina tended to, helped raise and loved all of her younger brothers and sisters. She was the oldest child and with that came much responsibility and many opportunities to love and enjoy her family. In 1941,Melvina married her high school sweetheart,Parley Orlando Alexander. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in many places around the United States as Parley served in the armed forces and worked. Melvina loved spending time with her children. Teaching,laughing,playing and helping us understand the value of hard work and having fun. She made sure that we always knew that we are loved, both by her and by our Father in Heaven. Her sweetheart,Parley Alexander passed away in 1991. She then married Oscar N. Nelson in 1992. They loved to travel and attend the Temple regularly. Oscar Nelson passed away in 2003.
Melvina was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings in the Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School and youth organizations. She was a medical records clerk and helped her husband, Parley, manage the Metro service station for many years. She loved the outdoors and gardening, fishing and camping and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She lived a full and wonderful life and she set an example of quiet courage, sacrifice, determination and love for us all. She will forever be loved and missed.
Melvina is survived by 6 of her nine children- Terry(Louise)Alexander of Roosevelt, DiAnn(David)Sundin of St. George, Louise(Tim)(Johns)Gutierrez of Salt Lake, Robert(Winona)Alexander of Montwell, Stephen(Elva)Alexander of Holtville,California, Theo Lamar Alexander of Montwell, 37 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Delaine, her brother, Roy and her sister Enid.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Henrietta McAffee,father,James Franklin Daniels, step-father,Oren Heber Pearson, bother,Lamar James Daniels,sister,Donna Mae Daniels,step-sister,Jean(Pearson)Evans,step-brother,Lyle Pearson,step-sister,Della Pearson,husband,Parley Orlando Alexanber, 2nd husband,Oscar
Nelson,daughter,Sonja(Ingersol)Williams,son,Parley Oren Alexander,son,Christian Dee Alexander.
Her family wishes to thank all for their loving care,for their visits to mom, and for their love and thoughtfulness throughout the years.
Funeral services held December 11,2012 at 11 a.m. in the Neola LDS Chapel. Friends may visit Tuesday at the church 1 hour priop to the service.
Burial in the Cedarview Cemetery.
