JoAnn was born on a farm 10 miles north of Worthington the daughter of David & Johanna Redinus Lutterman. JoAnn was the fifth of eight children. She had five brothers & two sisters. The family bought a farm five miles north of Reading, where they lived for 10 years. They then moved to Rushmore, Fulda, and Iona in Nobles & Murray counties. JoAnn later moved to Worthington. On April 12, 1939 she married John O. Larson of Sibley, IA. In 1941 the couple moved to a farm near Florence, where they lived for 23 years while raising their family. John passed away on November 2, 1963 at the Tyler Hospital where JoAnn worked at the time as a nurses' aide. She then worked in nursing homes in Marshall and Wayzata, where she took care of the Lone Ranger's mother. After selling the farm, JoAnn bought a small house in Russell. She worked in an electronics plant in Marshall for 10 years, where she molded parts that operate the flashing lights on airplanes, and made parts that were left on the moon during the Lunar Landing. She also served as missionary to the military in Norfolk, VA at the Christian Serviceman's Center for some years. She served as a Sunday School teacher for 12 years at the Tyler Baptist Church. JoAnn retired and moved to the Lyon County Retirement Home in Marshall in November 1989. In June of 1996 she moved to Roseville, MN to be close to her daughter, Jane and her family. Since July 1998 she had been a resident of the Presbyterian Homes. She had been a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall.

John & JoAnn are the parents of Darleen (Ward) Cunningham, Jane Larson, John (Patricia) Larson, & Judy (Jack) Steadman.

JoAnn's siblings include Etta Dreesman. JoAnn was preceded in death by five brothers & one sister.

Funeral services were held February 3 from Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor David Sundeen officiating.
