He was born June 17, 1940, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Floyd E. and Esther (Swanson) Cook. Alvin worked at Cashco, Inc., Ellsworth, retiring in 1994.
On Oct. 24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Karen (Caspers) Henricksen at Holyrood.
Alvin was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister.
He is survived by his wife Karen; children Scott Cook (Tamille) of Grants Pass, Ore., Laurie Houston of Cave Junction, Ore.; Kim Cook (Dave) of Grants Pass; Darrin Cook (Tabatha) of Selma, Ore. and Jason Cook of Gladstone, Ore.; step- children, Kendall Henricksen (Shiela) of Pilot Point, Texas, and Gale Henricksen of Hesston, Kan.; step-granddaughter ,Verna Foskett of Ness City; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, with burial following at 2 p.m. in the Gaylord Cemetery, Gaylord.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or LWML, in care of the funeral home, P. O. Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.
