Mr. Decker, age sixty five years, was a prosperous real estate dealer. He took his wife and daughter, Miss Mayme Decker, to a matinee at the Iroquois theater even though he had a great fear of fire. The theater caught fire and was was one of the most terrible fires in Chicago history with a loss of life. Over six hundred people perished, mainly women and children. Mr. Decker, his wife and daughter all perished in the fire. They were living at 3237 Groveland Avenue, Chicago, at the time of their deaths.
