Maria, (also known as Margaret) Brennan went to the Iroquois theater for a matinee with her little son, James Paul Brennan. The theater caught on fire in one of Chicago's biggest loss of life from a fire in history. More than six hundred people perished. Maria was the wife of Mr. P. G. Brennan who was connected with the sterotyping department of the Chicago American. Poor Maria and her son both perished in the fire.

The Brennan's were married, May 1, 1890, at Cook County, Illinois.
