Oliver Ellis served with the US Army Infantry in World War I, PVT 1 CL, 37 M.C. Bn. 13 Division. This was the 37th Machine Gun Battalion. He was an electrician. He enlisted on August 30th, 1918; and was honorably discharged January 29th, 1919.

Oliver Ellis was the son of George Hobson Ellis and America Iola Wristen Ellis. He married Ruth Helen Sholin in June of 1917 and they had seven children:

Mildred Iola Ellis
Edward Hobson Ellis
Robert Oliver Ellis
Donald Kay Ellis
and two others who are likely still living.
