Herald Coaster, January 22, 1961:

Funeral services for John G. Gerken, 59, of Route 1, Rosenberg, were held from the Needville First Methodist Church, with the Rev. George Olsen officiating.

Mr. Gerken passed away January 19 in a Houston hospital where he was a patient for several months. He had lived in the Fairchilds area for many years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II.

Included among his survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Seiler of Needville and Mrs. C.J. Pfeffer of Waco; and two brothers, Herbert of Clute and Otto of Brenham.

Interment was in the Needville Public Cemetery, arrangements under the direction of Garmany & Company of Needville.
