Idolene's father was Charles Appleton Hooper, an early San Francisco pioneer and businessman. After serving in the Civil War, Charles moved to San Francisco, California, and joined his father & brothers in the business of mining, lumber, shipping, banking, and real estate.
Idolene grew up during the early days of San Francisco. She married young to Sumner Crosby, a Harvard graduate. After she & Sumner divorced, Idolene married Winfield Hale, a dashing & handsome adventure seeker who died in his airplane over Argentina while on a solo pleasure trip.
Idolene was an avid genealogist, an author, she had nine children, and she lived a long & comfortable life. Idolene died in Jamaica at a Christian retreat.
Idolene Snow Hooper is buried with her Hooper family in the Hooper Mausoleum at Cypress Memorial Park in Colma, San Mateo County, California.
