Lou was born in what became Trinidad, Kaufman County, Texas, although it was Henderson County in 1850. She was born in a townsite her father founded which is now present day Rosser. She was the second child and eldest daughter of John Shultz Damron and Sallie Daughtery. On February 17, 1870 in San Bernardino County, California she married John C. Bedford. John and Lou had nine children: William Alexander Bedford, Bessie Bedford, Annie Bedford, Lola Bedford, Joseph Bedford, Mattie Bedford, "Birdie" Bedford, "Ricka" Bedford, and Ray Bedford. Lou died in Orange County at 94 years of age of coronary thrombosis.
