EDWIN K. KREBS, well known citizen, and faithful, life-long member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, died in the York Hospital, a few hours after entering, on July 8, 1949, after an illness of five weeks, a few days of which he was bedfast.
His age at death was 63 years, 1 month, 4 days.
For some years he had a store at Seitzland, Pa., but the major portion of his life was spent as a farmer. The past six years he worked for the Heilig Brothers Wire Cloth, York.
His hobby was music, vocal and instrumental. For approximately thirty years he was the able Minister of Music at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church. Usually he was the song leader for the Sunday school sessions. For many years he taught a Men's Bible Class. Unselfishly he served wherever his services and talents were desired. His voice was heard by literally thousands of people in church services, at funerals, picnics, and meetings. No one can estimate the number of people who heard him sing God's praise through thirty years.
His father, Levi Krebs, died when he was a lad of eight. A devout mother reared him. As a boy he took his place on the choir with his parents. His wife, Cora Stine Krebs, preceded him in death by thirty-three years.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Claude H. Rohrbaugh, Glen Rock RD 1, and four grandchildren.
His funeral was held on July 12th with a family service at Geiple Funeral Home followed by a public service in St. Jacob's Church. Burial followed in the new cemetery. Dr. Paul Yoder assisted.
