NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Delbert F. Hickman, 81, of Newark, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 7, 2011. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Delbert, a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at the Flint Ridge Care Center on Thursday, May 5, 2011. He was born in Newark, Ohio on July 28, 1929 to the late John E. and Elizabeth C. (Church) Hickman.

Delbert was retired from Rockwell International where he worked as a machine operator in Department 33 for over 32 years, and was a member of Local 1037. Following his retirement, Delbert worked for another 7 years at Licking Memorial Hospital as a courtesy shuttle and courier route driver.

Delbert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, [Names deleted] of Pickerington; his daughters and son-in-law, [Names removed] of Heath, and [Name Removed]of Newark; his grandchildren, [Names Removed]; his great-grandchildren [Names Removed]; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa (Ehlermann) Hickman; his brother, Robert G. Hickman; and his sisters, Ethel Earley and Betty Blackledge.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M., Friday, May 6, 2011 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 378 East Main Street, Newark; or Generations Hospice, 65 McMillen Drive, Suite 504, Newark, Ohio 43055.
