She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie William Bennett;son James Woodrow Bennett Sr.; her parents, Albert and Eula Mae Bibb McIntosh; and sisters Christine Patton and Lorraine Riser.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Thomas C.) Griffin, of Greenville, one daughter-in-law, Diane Bennett, of Flora, three grandchildren, Thomas Griffin Jr. Rodney (Angela) Griffin, Jay (Tina) Bennett and six great-grandchildren.
For 60 years, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville where she was a member of United Methodist Women, serving as chairman. She served as a Sunday School teacher for homebuilders and seeker classes. She was a member of the chancel choir and Young at Heart. She was membership chairman for the local AARP chapter and County Council President for Washington Extension Home Makers. She volunteered for the Bessie Taylor Retirement Home and Delta Regional Medical Center.
