Wanda Jean Granot Cole, 87, died in Madison, Wisc., July 29, 2011, after a brief illness; beloved of husband, E. Bob Cole (1922-1962); loving mother of Catherine Mambretti (La Grange, Ill.) and Robert Cole (Churchville, Md.) who survive her, and Cynthia Cole (1958-2007). Mrs. Cole is also survived by her sisters, Bettie Beck and Billie Marvel; brother-in-law, Darrel Marvel (Marlow, Okla.); and two grandchildren, Alexandria Will-Cole (Churchville, Md.) and Cassidy Cole Mulvey (Oshkosh, Wisc.).
She was born in Texas to Frank Ben Granot and Jeanetta Harper Shanly. She and Elmer "Bob" Cole were married December 6, 1946 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Ms. Cole was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (B.A. and M.F.A.) and the University of Iowa (M.A., including graduate studies in pursuit of an Art History Ph.D.). She taught at several colleges and universities, including Midwestern State University (Wichita Falls, Texas) and the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Wisc.
A private interment of her ashes and graveside memorial service will be held on April 7, 2012, at Crestview Memorial Park, 1947 Archer Hwy, Wichita Falls, Texas, where flowers may be sent.
