after her father was killed in a train accident in Ontario her mother ran a boarding house where she met her future husband Alex. They married and moved to Gravelbourg, Sask where her children were born. Helped raised her younger sister's, and supported her mother after her father died in Ontario. Her husband who was a Civil Engineer in Gravelbourg, Sask, and instrumental in the development of the town of Gravelbourg, Sssk died suddenly in 1945. Mary and her family later moved to the Vancouver, BC area.
In later years Mary lived with her daughter, Muriel (Doutre) Glen, and family in "Sunshine Hills" in Delta. Muriel's oldest daughter Mary-Josie (Mary-Jo) is named after her grandmother.
