Eugene was a 1978 graduate of Ballard Memorial High School; a member of Laborers' International Union of North America Local No. 1214; and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was an avid late model race car fan. He was a loving free spirit who treasured his family and friends, and loved nature and animals.
Eugene is survived by his parents, Betty Smith Johnson and Clarence Eugene Johnson Sr. of Kevil; one sister, Tina Waid Erickson (Ron) of Paducah; one brother, Josh Johnson of Kevil; his paternal grandmother, Voncile Johnson Gilbert of Lakeland, Fla.; two aunts, Henrietta Ross of Paducah and Barbara Tomlinson (James) of Sefner, Fla.; one nephew, Jacob Waid, and one niece, Trinity Peterson Johnson, both of Paducah; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Henry Smith and Mary Smith Poviach, and his paternal grandfather, Clarence Murphy Johnson.
Please join the family in celebrating his life. Visitation services will be held Thursday, May 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Kevil. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, 576 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Kevil, KY 42053.
