Harriet Alma, eldest child and only daughter of Spencer and Electa Atwood Ketchum was born June 18, 1865, near Henry, in Marshall County, Illinois.

She received her grade school education in the country schools of Marshall County and her high school education in the city school of Henry, and was affiliated with the Methodist Church at Whitefield Corners.

September 23, 1885, she was married to Walter L. Huffman at Whitefield, Ill., by an uncle of the bride, Smith Ketchum. To this union was born one daughter, Lois, now Mrs. Jacob Koeppel, of Davenport, Neb.

In March, 1888, Mr. and Mrs. Huffman and their small daughter, came to Fillmore County, Nebraska, and settled on a farm two and one-half miles southeast of Shickley.

After a brief illness, Mr. Huffman was taken by death, September 6, 1889.

After his passing, Mrs. Huffman and her small daughter returned to her native state of Illinois.

February 5, 1891, she was married to John C. Rousch.
Again the westward call brought them back to Nebraska to the home near Shickley.

Three children were taken to share their home, Harry, who passed away in 1907, Ethel Pearl, now Mrs. Henry Sweinsberger of Columbus, Ohio, and Cecil of Los Angeles, Cal.

In the spring of 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Rousch retired from the farm and moved into Shickley, where Mr. Rousch died July 27, 1935.

After his death, Mrs. Rousch moved to Fairfield, Neb., to make her home.

January 16, 1937, she was married to Franklin McReynolds.

They made their home in Fairfield until his death, which occurred November 11, 1940.

Then Mrs. McReynolds moved to Davenport to be near her daughter.

About this time an old acquaintance was renewed with one whom she had known near Whitefield, Ill., and May 1, 1941, she was married to Frank E. Maxwell, this time a grandson of the bride reading the marriage lines.
Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell had made their home in Davenport since their marriage.

She passed away there after a short illness, June 23, 1946, at the age of 81 years and 5 days.

After moving to Davenport Mrs. Maxwell became a member of the Church of Christ and was faithful in attendance as long as her health permitted her to attend services. She was a kind and loving mother and was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Frank E., her daughter, Lois, foster daughter, Ethel Pearl, foster son, Cecil, three step-sons, Ross, Vern and Earl Maxwell, three brothers, Eddy T. Ketchum of Shickley, Vern of Davenport and Jeriel of Boulder, Colo., also by four grandchildren,
six great-children, other relatives and a host of friends.

One brother preceded her in death in 1924.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Church of Christ in Davenport with burial in the Shickley Cemetery.
