Allen A. Kenney
Allen Arthur Kinney, 82, of Pacific Grove, died of cancer Monday at Hospice House in Monterey.
Born Oct. 14, 1912, in Auburn, Wash. he had lived in Pacific Grove for 49 years.
Mr. Kenney was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific and the Philippines. He worked as a chief accountant for Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, retiring in 1968. Before that he worked in the banking field.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seaside and the Garden Club and directed the choir at Mayflower Church in Pacific Grove for 18 years. He also volunteered with the Community Concert Association in Pacific Grove for several years and designed an accounting system for All Saints Episcopal Day School in Carmel Valley, to help them gain accreditation. He was an avid gardener and his flowers were used in his church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline; a son, Donald of Fairfax; and a sister, Geraldine Arrington of Auburn, Wash. His son Dean died in 1976.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Seaside. Cremation will be at the Little Chapel by-the-Sea in Pacific Grove, followed by internment at El Carmelo Cemetery. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggest that any memorial contributions be sent to the Hospice of the Central Coast, P.O. Box 1798, Monterey 93942, or to the First Baptist Church
