Joyce was born April 13,1938 in Piqua, Ohio. Because she lived on a far, she spent her early years largely with her parents, her brother Miles, who was nine years older, and her younger sister Nona. The entire Weaver family was very active in the local Church of God.
In high school Joyce participated in the orchestra, G. A. A. and the National Honor Society. She attended Anderson College in Indiana, where whe met Cliff Koehn, whom she was married to for 11 years.
Following her graduation they married and lived locally for a year before mving to California. In 1963 they joyfully welcomed baby Jill.
Having taught briefly in Indiana and central California, Joyce was hired by the Lucia Mar School District. She taught French and occasionally history for nearly 35 years at Arroyo Grande High School, where she was also a loyal Eagle sports fan. Joyce attended many summer sessions at UCSB and in Rance in order to earn her masters degrees in Frence and in education. Joyce retired in 1998.
She was very active in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, sang in the choir and kept the gardens beautiful. Joyce's passions were muic, sports and gardening. She lived in Arroyo Grande over 45 years until her death from pancreatic cancer on Thanksgiving day.
Her parents, sister and brother predeceased Joyce. She is survived by her daughter Jill of Arroyo Grande, her sister-ion-law Peggy of Florida and several nieces and nephews and friends from both school and church.
