Deceased Name: Robert Theodore Aarhus
Robert Theodore Aarhus, 69, of G Street, Carlisle, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

Born May 29, 1936 in Sheboygan, WI, he was a the son of the late Trygve Elias and Marie Orth Aarhus.

He was a 1954 graduate of The American High School in Munich, Germany. He retired from the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot in 1986, where he was a systems analyst; he also worked with the Carlisle Borough for 10 years, retiring in 1997. He held offices in several of the organizations he was involved in, as well as being a past President of the Carlisle Chapter of National Council of Churches and former member of The Alexandria Harmonizers; Alexandria, VA, and The Carlindian Chorus, Carlisle. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, Carlisle, where he was very active as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carlisle, and the Serra Club of Harrisburg. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1954-1958 and was an active foster parent for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Audrey (Cramp) Aarhus; two sons, Lt. Col. Robert Theodore Aarhus Jr., U.S. Army, Falls Church, VA, and William Hays Aarhus and his wife, Susan of Fairfax VA; a daughter, Fern-Marie Dempsey and her husband, Rob of Henderson, NV; two brothers, Richard T. Aarhus of Alexandria, VA and Ronald T. Aarhus of Omaha, NE; a sister, Rosemary E. Aarhus of Alexandria, VA; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Aarhus, who died in 1999.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005, in the St. Patrick Catholic Shrine Church, 140 East Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Old Graveyard, Carlisle. There will be no viewing or visitation.
