Court record shows Jennie as administratrix of his estate by May 16 1900. Elected jailer for the county ca 1882-1893, owned a farm where the stones for the Hardinsburg jail foundation were quarried. Sold a farm (possibly the one mentioned) to the Court for a Poorhouse farm, then acquired Alfred Taylor farm, acc to newspaper blurbs in weekly Breckinridge paper.

He was married to Elizabeth Jeanette "Jenny" Davis, 1 Sept 1865.

Census says he b GA father b SC, so he could be a "Carolina" Slaton, and thus probably not a descendant of Arthur & Rachel Slayden of VA, but this cannot be proven with available information. There are a few Arthur & Rachel descendants who give SC GA in census records.

Mgr is very interested in any doc with father's name, ancestry is mysterious but his line down can be followed down through sons William H, Cliff and Joe L, and daughters, Sallie, Vibella and Mattie. Possible dau named Byrd. He died bef death cert requirement for KY, but his estate is settled by wife and son in 1900 Breckinridge court records.

He does not appear in any 1850 or 60 census that mgr has found, was in Hardin co census in 1870, and son William H reports b Oldham co KY in 1866.
