Esther M. Bogner, 92, died March 29, 2012 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on September 20, 1919 in rural Hodgeman County, northeast of Spearville. She was the daughter of William and Clara (Benish) Tenbrink.

Esther attended first grade at the old #4 Public School in Hodgeman County. She then went to school at the Howell School where she completed the eighth grade. Esther continued her education at St. Mary's of the Plains Academy where she graduated from high school in 1937. She taught school in Finney, Ford, and Hodgeman counties before going to Liberal where she taught third grade for six years. In 1941, Esther received her Teacher's Certificate from Hays College. On February 11, 1947, she married Albert J. Bogner at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1985. They raised their family on the farm and lived there until moving into Dodge City in 1977. Esther enjoyed gardening, cooking, cards, and bingo. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was a eucharistic minister for the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Esther also worked and taught at Arrowhead West of Dodge City.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Daughters of Isabella, Alter Society, Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W. and the Moose Lodge all of Dodge City and the Howell Extension Club.

Esther is survived by two daughters; three sons; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, In addition to her husband, Esther is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Bogner; two sisters, Wilma Hessman and Virginia Tracy; one brother, Everett "Bud" Tenbrink and two great grandchildren, Dillion and Logan Bogner.

Daughters of Isabella rosary will be on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City. Vigil Service will be Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from Noon to 5:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.
