CHILHOWIE, Va. Mary Elizabeth Peake Anderson, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2012, while being cradled in Lana's arms. She was born on Dec. 26, 1916, in Smyth County. She was a long-time member of Chilhowie Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Mary Null Peake; her husband, Bane C. Anderson; one son, C.B. Anderson; a great-grandson, Tony Hubble; six brothers; and four sisters. Surviving family members are three daughters, Bettie Gilbert, Glade Spring, Va., Priscilla and husband Roscoe Hubble, Chilhowie, and Lana and husband Roscoe Rector, Glade Spring; one son, Tim and wife Gaye Anderson, Chilhowie; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Heath, Chilhowie; one brother, Hugh Peake, Greenville, S.C.; and her prayer partner of 19 years, Pam Hall. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Middlefork Cemetery in Chilhowie with the Rev. Travis Chapman officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. There will be no public visitation or viewing. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made to Middlefork Cemetery Fund, c/o Thomas McGhee, PO Box 613, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
