Orangeburg,S.C.-Fatally burned when her clothing caught fire Saturday morning,Mrs. Annie Lou Bolen died at her home on East Russell Street early Sunday morning. Funeral services were conducted from the late residence at 4:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in Sunnyside Cemetery. The services were in charge of the Rev. J. Elwood Welsh,pastor of the First Baptist church,assisted by the Rev. T.G. Herbert,pastor of St. Paul's Methodist church.
Mrs. Bolen's apron became ignited by a piece of burning wood which projected from the door of the kitchen stove. She was quickly enveloped in flames,but she succeeded in cutting away the burning clothing and dressig again and summoned assistance. Her injuries were such,however,that she died a short time after.
Mrs. Bolen was 68 years of ag. She is survived by her husband,J.J. Bolen,and the following sons:L.R. Bolen,J.O. Bolen,Z.R. Bolen,H.S. Bolen,J.H.Bolen,Mike Bolen and Pinch Bolen,all of this city. She also leaves one half-sister and two half-brothers:Miss Minnie Avinger,Lewis and William Avinger,all of Orangeburg.
