He died in the 1833 Asiatic Cholera Pandemic. In his will written January 31, 1831, he requested to be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery. His legatees were his wife Frances (Hammett) Cissell, his son Robert Cissell (my ancestor), his daughter Elizabeth (Cissell) Summers, wife of George Summers, his son Uriah Cissell, his daughter Julian "Julia Ann" (Cissell) Livers, wife of John Livers, his son, Sylvester Cissell [who, with his wife, also died in this pandemic], his daughter, Mahala (Cissell) Cambron, then wife of Raymond Cambron and later my ancestor Michael Spalding, a Howardstown, Kentucky widower, his son, Martin Cissell, and his son, Emanuel Cissell. He also left $23.00 to Attaway Wheatley. He made his wife the executrix and the will was witnessed by: James Ballard and Bennett Ciseel. He sigfned this instrument Augusta Cissell and it was probated August 26, 1833 and recorded in the Washington County Courthouse in Springfield, kentucky on August 26, 1833.
When I first surveyed this tombstone in 1974, it was unbroken.
