Services: Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012, at 3:00 pm, at Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by the Reverend Billy Pinson. Burial will follow in Iva City Cemetery.
Visitation: The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the church Friday, March 30, 2012, from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm, prior to the funeral service.

Max Edward Ashley, age 90, husband of Vera Mae Hayes Ashley, of 9535 Highway 81 South, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Abbeville County, Max was the son of the late Daisy Moore Ashley and the late Lewis S. Ashley and his wife, the late Rosa Lee Woodruff Ashley. He served in World War II as a 1st Sergeant in the 52nd Field Artillery Company and had worked in the textile industry at Jackson Mill for over 30 years.

He was a member of the Iva Pentecostal Church where he served as a Sunday school superintendent and was a member of the Willing Workers Class.

Surviving are his widow of 70 years, Vera Mae Hayes Ashley; one grandson, Max Lamar Ashley, Jr.; 2 great grandsons, Randy Ashley (Molly) of West Virginia and Ryan Ashley of Iva who were both raised in the home; a sister, Mildred Graham (Roy) of Anderson; 1 great granddaughter, Jaiden; and 2 great-great- grandchildren, Axl and Jacob.

Max was preceded in death by a son, Max Lamar Ashley, a daughter, Joyce Maxine Ashley, a granddaughter, Melinda Ashley, 8 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012, at 3:00 pm, at Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by the Reverend Billy Pinson. Burial will follow in Iva City Cemetery.
